Invitation to the 27th AGA Congress, Vienna, September 9th to September 11th, 2010

Dear colleagues,

We kindly invite you to the 27th AGA Congress in Vienna which will take place at the Vienna Hofburg, an international conference center with the imperial atmosphere of the Habsburg dynasty. This outstanding venue should provide for an exceptional meeting for of all those interested in the field of arthroscopic surgery.

As in the past years the conference is scheduled for three days and will start on Thursday with the Research Day.

The main topic chosen will be arthritis - the degenerative joint disease of the lower limb. Treatment options discussed will address conservative means, arthroscopic options and open surgery from osteotomy to unicompartmental replacements.

An introduction to the topics will be delivered by international lecturers, while the current state of evidence-based medicine will be acquired by presentations, discussion and instructional courses.

Another topic on our conference agenda will be the results of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, its structural integrity and new methods to enhance the biology of tendon healing. The treatment of meniscal lesions will be yet another main topic of our conference. Biomechanics of menisci, improved operative techniques and methods to stimulate tissue repair for suture and replacement of menisci will be of particular interest. Finally, new developments in the field of arthroscopic surgery are going to be another fascinating item on our agenda. As side-event to the conference the symposia of the German Association of Elbow and Shoulder Surgery (DVSE), the Society of Sports Traumatology (GOTS), the Austrian Orthopedic Society (ÖGO) and a physiotherapy meeting with an international faculty will take place, demonstrating the co-operation with other societies.
Vienna, being the city with the highest quality of living in the world, capital of culture and music, offers many places of interest worth to spend some more days for sightseeing. Besides the attractions dating back to the era of the Habsburg monarchy.

Vienna offers an abundance of internationallyrenowned museums, a great many theaters and of course the famous Vienna Opera ensuring that lovers of culture will certainly not be disappointed.

During an evening at the Kursalon Hübner, one of the most exclusive and most gorgeous Viennese buildings in Italian renaissance-style situated in the Vienna Stadtpark, where the Vienna State Opera Ballet will perform for us and you yourself will also have the opportunity for some dancing, you will be given an impressive taste of Vienna’s cultural ambience. Finally, Viennese Cuisine, Viennese coffee house culture and a visit at typical “Heurigen” should be part of every stay in Vienna: do not forget to reserve time for these highlights as well.

The deadline for the submission of abstracts was February 15, 2010. The notifications to the authors will be sent out by mid April 2010.
